REPORT: CATHOLIC EVANGELIST IMMANUEL MOROP LEADS WEEKLONG PREACHING OUTREACH IN FATIMA HILL, AITAPE – APRIL 2025

From April 21 to 26, 2025, Catholic evangelist and lay preacher Mr. Immanuel Morop, together with his ministry team, conducted a powerful weeklong outreach in Fatima Hill, Aitape, touching on core aspects of Catholic faith and spirituality. Below is a summary of the key moments throughout the event:

Day 1 – Monday, April 21, 2025: Arrival

Mr. Immanuel Morop and his team arrived in Aitape to begin their mission. They were welcomed by local parishioners and Church leaders.

Day 2 – Tuesday, April 22, 2025: Teaching on the Liturgy

Mr. Morop opened the outreach with a teaching on the Sacred Liturgy, emphasizing that the Holy Mass is the highest form of prayer. He reminded participants that cultural customs should not overshadow the sacredness of the Eucharist.

“Some of our people have embraced traditional practices so deeply that they forget the customs of God.”

He highlighted the importance of Holy Thursday in the life of the Church, and warned that attending Easter Vigil without understanding the Triduum’s meaning could be spiritually shallow.

He also challenged the faithful to examine their behavior during Mass, particularly reverence during the consecration, stating:

“If you cannot kneel or show reverence during consecration, how can you worthily receive Holy Communion?”

Day 3 – Wednesday, April 23, 2025: The Sacrament of Marriage

The third day focused on the Sacrament of Matrimony. Mr. Morop called attention to the growing number of couples not receiving Communion due to unresolved marital situations. He spoke out against adulterous relationships and urged married couples to regularize their marriages in the Church.

“Marriage is sacred. Parents who don’t pray or attend Mass cannot expect their children to succeed simply through education. Faith must come first.”
He quoted Matthew 6:33: “Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Day 4 – Thursday, April 24, 2025: Clarifying Baptism

Mr. Morop addressed common misunderstandings about Baptism, especially the practice of baptizing in rivers without using the Trinitarian formula.
He explained that St. John the Baptist’s baptism was a sign of repentance, while Christian baptism, instituted by Christ, is sacramental.

“Baptism is not about the river—it’s about receiving the Holy Spirit and being marked as a child of God.”

He emphasized the importance of following Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:19:

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

Day 5 – Friday, April 25, 2025: Reconciliation

Friday’s theme was Reconciliation. Mr. Morop encouraged personal reflection before asking for forgiveness.

“True reconciliation begins with sincere prayer and repentance before God.”

He urged individuals to avoid public apologies that are not rooted in genuine sorrow, noting that healing begins when we recognize the hurt we’ve caused others and ask God for forgiveness first.

Day 6 – Saturday, April 26, 2025: Demonstration of Reconciliation

The final day featured a demonstration of family reconciliation:

  1. A representative of the child’s parents acknowledges past wrongs and seeks forgiveness.
  2. The mother apologizes to the child and asks for God’s mercy.
  3. The husband and wife exchange mutual apologies and seek forgiveness from one another and the Church.
  4. The father reconciles with the child and the child’s mother.
  5. The entire family joins in prayer for unity and healing.
